| School starts tomorrow.
I know that everyone is secretly both dreading and waiting for it, in a clash of what feels like hunger and a punch to the gut. I'm sitting at this desk writing a paper with my feet tucked under my knees. It is six, and I haven't eaten anything but an apple and a peach since this morning.
This summer, I have ran with my feet on hot wooden planks and not gotten a splinter. I can't remember crying for anything but happiness. I have changed my mind about countless things. I have knit, I have sang, I have been angry, I have screamed, I have read, I have smiled. I have laughed. I can drive. I can husk corn. I can read Hebrew. I can play piano like a fiend.
So here's to 2006-2007. Let's hope the circle ends: not like a hoop, but a crescent.
